Come and enjoy a relaxing and romantic getaway here at the Captain's Inn. Located directly on the Old Salinas River Tidal Channel next to marshes where you can see a wide variety of wildlife such as shorebirds, harbor seals, and even sea otters. The waterfront views are outstanding.

The Captain's Inn at Moss Landing has three buildings; two are used by our guests. There are a total of 10 guestrooms each with a different theme and decor. The beautiful historical building and the boathouse are landscaped to enhance the serene atmosphere. Guest room amenities make your stay a pleasant experience.

This guestroom is located on the second floor of the Boathouse Building facing the Elkhorn Slough. Wide panoramic windows invite guests to enjoy striking waterfront views populated with vast wildlife variety.

These guest rooms are located on the 2nd floor of our historic Pacific Coast Steamship Company building. Views of the garden, they are tastefully decorated with European walnut antiques, and crystal chandelier. There is a comfortable queen size bed, a private bath includes a large clawfoot tub with shower, oak floors, and accented with old growth redwood trim that has been restored to their natural splendor.

Neighborhood

Moss Landing is most noted as the gateway to Elkhorn Slough, one of the largest wetlands in the state. Elkhorn Slough is a precious resource and is always ranked in the top 10 best birding spots in the U. S according to the Audubon’s annual bird count. There is over 350 species of birds that migrate through the area annually. It is also known as one of the best spots in the world to view sea otters. The small fishing village of Moss Landing lies in the northern part of Monterey County and has numerous restaurants, galleries, a bed and breakfast, and is home port to over 600 fishing and pleasure boats.

Moss Landing Harbor District berths over 600 boats: including 350 fishing boats, 200 pleasure craft, 30 research vessels, and a half dozen tour and charter boats. The harbor's commercial boats land dungeness crab, halibut, king salmon, albacore, rockfish, sable fish, anchovies, sardines, squid, black cod, red snapper, covina, prawns, mackerel, and others. Several maritime businesses support harbor users including a fuel dock. The harbor district also provides two public boat launches and a community park.

Booking and cancellation policy

Unless otherwise specified, booking payments are non-refundable.

We have a 7 day cancellation policy, payment for the first night taken 7 days prior to arrival. Cancellations within that 7 day period, that is the penalty. No show, entire stay is charged.

How to get there

We are located just off of Highway 1, directly between Santa Cruz to the north and Monterey to the south. We are the large blue house with palm trees in front. To get to the inn from the south, just take the slight left onto Moss Landing Rd. We will be on the left hand side of the road. From the north, just turn right onto Moss Landing Rd and follow the curve. We will be on the right hand side.
