Overview

Located five minutes away from the metro, 3km away from People’s Square and the Bund. Our hostel, a renovated Jewish home built in 1924, has all the modern conveniences and services you'll need for a comfortable, cozy stay.

We're one of the more central hostels in Shanghai, just three stops away from Shanghai Railway Station on metro line 4. The area around it is typical of old Shanghai, with an open-air market, Buddhist temple and remnants of the historic Jewish Quarter on the doorstep.

We get a mixture of international guests of all ages, including students staying for extended periods.

Location & Transportation

If you are looking for skyscrapers, shiny shopwindows or fancy restaurants, you will be surely disappointed. No,no,it's not the facade of the city. But if you have a yearn for authentic Shanghai citizen culture,if you have been born with an exploratory soul, this is the right place for you. Our hostel is located in one of the oldest and most underdeveloped areas in the city. (Yet very safe, so don't worry ^.^) The neighbourhood is a bizarre mix of old colonial houses that can be traced back to 1920s, old apartment buildings dating from 1970s, greasy spoons that provide suprisingly delicious hot-pots, and a gigantic sidewalk market. It is one of the few places that you can encounter authentic shanghai citizen culture which is dying every single minute. Forget about the flattering image you are supposed to see,get some real stuff!
Directions	From Pudong Airport or Honqiao Airport, simply hop in a taxi and give the driver this address that you have printed out ahead of time: 九屋青年旅社舟山路 394号近周家嘴路虹口区，上海 From Pudong Airport expect to pay about ¥150 and from Honqqiao expect to pay around ¥130. If you happen to be coming by metro, take metro line 4 to Linping Rd. Then, take exit #2 and take a right on to Zhoushan Lu. About 5 minutes later (after crossing Zhoujiazui Rd.), you'll see our front door on your left. Please call us if you have any difficulties and our bilingual staff will be more than happy to help.
