Mt Hakuba Backpackers Hostel is the newest and best located hostel in Hakuba. From our hostel there are free shuttle buses to and from the six major Hakuba ski areas. We are a one minute walk from the closest convenience store, a couple of minutes walk from numerous bars and restaurants, and 5 minutes walk will find you at the closest onsen (hot spring).

Mt Hakuba Backpackers is fully equipped with an inhouse bar (separated from the sleeping areas),restaurant,guest laundry,guest kitchen, and an internet cafe (with free wireless). The bar has cozy sofas, a billiard table and a large screen for international sports. You can buy cheap but filling meals at the hostel restaurant.
Mt Hakuba Backpackers Hostel has a drying area for gear, and we also rent out ski/boarding equipment at cheap prices. We also sell discounted lift tickets to all of the major ski areas in Hakuba saving you time and money.
We are open every day of the year, and we encourage people to come during the non-winter months to check out the wild beauty of Hakuba. There are many hiking and mountain bike trails to explore and we know them all. We also rent mountain bikes. | |

| Directions | By taxi from the station it will cost you about 1000 yen.
We provide a 24 hour check-in service but you need to let us know in advance if you are going to arrive outside of reception hours so we can organize your key. Our reception is open from 8 am till 11am, and between 4:00 pm and 8 pm | | Transportation | If you are coming from Narita Airport the easiest way is to get the Narita Express train from the airport to Tokyo station (2000 yen-1 hour). Then, change trains and catch the Nagano Shinkansen to Nagano (1 and a half hours-12110 yen). From Nagano station there are regular buses to Hakuba. The other option is to get the Narita Express train from the Airport to Shinjuku station, then the express train called Azusa to Matsumoto, and from then a local train to Hakuba. If you get the 7.30am Azusa it goes all the way from Shinjuku through to Hakuba. The total cost going this way is about 10000 yen. From Shinjuku there is a special overnight train called Moonlight Shinshu which departs Shinjuku at midnight, and arrives in Hakuba at 5.40 am. This leaves most days in the Winter season and the cost is about 7000 yen. |

Your booking will be confirmed in real-time and your credit card/debit card charged in advance for the full cost of the booking. For cancellations see the cancellation policy below.
From April 1st till 30 November
If you cancel your booking giving more than 2 days notice you will receive a full refund less a 10% cancellation fee. In order to receive a refund, notice must be received by the hostel by 10 am Hakuba time, 2 days prior to your scheduled arrival date. We will refund the balance onto the same credit card that you booked with.
If you cancel your booking giving less than 2 days notice or fail to show, a cancellation fee equivalent to 100 percent of the total amount room will be incurred. Non-arrival will result in the cancellation of your entire reservation. Any changes to your booking must be notified to and are at the discretion of Mt Hakuba Backpackers. |
