Comments (English): Casa 579 was the best hostel I stayed at while in Brazil. The staff was outgoing, kind, and extremely helpful. Rooms and bathroom were immaculate, and breakfast was terrific. The views from the terrace were amazing: The Corcovado, Sugarloaf mountain, Urca, and the bay were all priceless views. Less than 100 feet from the hostel up the street was a restaurant called "Gauchos" which was very inexpensive and provided big portions.
A combi (small van for 2 reals) would stop outside the hostel and take you to a metro stop where you could travel quickly and inexpensively to all the main sights.
I highly recommend Casa 579. It is quiet, comfortable, clean, and the staff is first-rate.

Comments (English): I am very glad I had the chance to stay in this place, first Teresa and their staff makes you feel at home from the beginning. Also they have all the info you need to move around Rio and they are always willing to give you all the instructions you need. The breakfast is excelent, and if you wake up late, they still have your dishes waiting for you so you do not skip it. Even though its not located in the most popular areas such Copacabana or Ipanema, the view that the house have is amazing and lets you see another side of RIO. Also, a combi(little bus) goes outside the house every 15 minutes and it takes directly to a metro station from where you can go anywhere. Its also close to LAPA, very popular place of bars.

Comments (English): Casa 579 is owned by a british lady, so she can advise you in english. She is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are private and comfortable. Internet access in the lounge area.
