First of all we didn't get the room at Lisbon Private Room because of full occupation (at the moment of reservation no one told us there are no rooms left), so the manager fixed us a room at a place next door.
The room was pretty tiny, and the toilets are shared (we had one in the room but it didnt work).
The closness to the center of Lisbon, or Bairro Alto (the night life center) is relative, 10-15 mins on a bus, but in the night you have to take a taxi.
I believe you can get better value for your money if you start looking for a place to stay more than 1 night ahead (we started looking one day before leaving to Lisbon).

This is an old building that is being renovated. The bedroom and kitchen were not yet renovated, but the bathroom, which was shared, was redone very tastefully. Our room was on the 3rd floor (in North America it would be considered the 4th floor) and there was no elevator, so it meant carrying luggage up a lot of steps!! It was nice to have the use of a kitchen as no breakfast was included. We were able to prepare our own lunch and dinner as well and the owners were very helpful.

This old building is under renovation. The parts that are renovated are tastefully done. The other parts are old and definitely need to be updated. The owner was helpful and courteous. There was no elevator, so you had to climb a lot of stairs with your luggage. It was nice to have the use of the kitchen to prepare meals.

a little dark and old; needs painting and reparations but it's really clean, well located and quiet.
