The Hotel is well situated on a very busy street which is the main access to that part of the city. The rooms are spacious and the food good. The staff members are friendly and helpful. It is nice and quit in the rooms away from the street. The rooms are well kept and the internet very helpful, even if it slow at times. Good value for money.

Situated in the centre of Antananarivo, the Radama Hotel is suited for the traveller who can find his / her way around, either by foot or by taxi. The rooms were fine, the staff were friendly, and the meals were pleasing. I was on a bit of a budget, but 4 nights for myself plus my wife and three children came to just over $1,000 (including some meals), so I feel it was value for money!

Mediocre Hotel, a litlle run down, in a clogged traficky part of the city, three miles away from center of town. Eating/Dining facility is tolerable at best.

There are better Hotels in more desirable areas of town for the same price.Rooms are large with ensuite private bathroom.A I had no problems with availability of electricity and hot water - which in other parts of town
(not in center though!) can sometimes be a problem.
Note: Country takes Visa-cards only (NO MASTER,- AE-, DINERS...no nothing else)

The Radama is in probably one of the best locations to explore Tana. It's bang in the centre of Isoraka (the Upper Town) where all the little craft shops and hidden museums are. They're well worth a wander around, you can pick up so many unique things to take back as souvenirs or presents! There's also a Shoprite supermarket 5 minutes up the road towards the Place de l'Independence, which is useful for general stocking up. Walking up the road will take you to the steps leading to the stall lined street of the Avenue de l'Independence and the wide, shop filled street of the Avenue de la Liberation to the left of the bottom of the steps. The view of Tana from the Upper Town is amazing...you can see the huts and coloured buildings stretching up the hills around you and sprawling below you. The Radama itself is just such a lifesaver especially after rough travelling through Madagascar (the best way to see the sights!). The rooms are spotless and all have a little character to them in the decoration as well as ensuite bathrooms with proper bath with shower and real toilets! They even have hot water for the showers...although not at 2am which is when I tried to wash after a delayed flight. There is satellite tv in the rooms so you can watch CNN and music channels. Mini bar, telephone, desk, chairs are all provided. There is a security guard at the only entrance to the hotel all day and night so safety isn't an issue. The reception are really friendly and speak good french, with the manager speaking good English. The hotel restaurant, the Tatao, is lovely! Finely laid tables with flowers and wine glasses, soothing western music as well as a live musician in the evenings and superb food! It's averagely priced for Tana and very reasonable for the service and food you get. I loved eating there! The bar is also amazingly well stocked...Malibu, JD and other home drinks are available! The Radama is really good for individual travellers as well as couples etc. Bit more expensive but you get the amenities for your money.
