Hostel amenities

The Mother Road Hostel is located within a 109 year old house. Once built as a home, it has been sold from family to family before finally being converted over to a hostel. The place is old, but has a homey feel to it and a lot of character. We do our best to keep the place as relaxed as possible; allowing guests a place to rest their head when not out exploring all that Albuquerque has to offer.

Room amenities

The Mother Road Hostel has three dorm rooms available for guests to stay in : ladies dorm room with six beds, men's dorm room with eight beds, and an overflow dorm room with five beds. The ladies and men's dorm rooms are set up with bunk-beds, while the overflow dorm room is not. Both of the main dorm rooms are located right next to the kitchen and dining room, allowing guests easy access in case they get hungry or thirsty in the middle of the night.

Linens and towels are provided upon check-in, with a key to the room being provided as well. Each dorm room has their own bathroom with toilet, sink, and shower. There is an extra bathroom located near-by if it is needed.

How to get there

The Mother Road Hostel is located just a few blocks west of the Alvarado Transit Center, where the Amtrack, Railrunner, and Greyhound buses are located. There are various ways to reach us, the cheapest of which is to walk.

Walking : Proceed north along 1st St SW till you reach Central Ave, make a left, and head west till you reach 10th St. We are located just past the stoplight at 10th and Central, right next to a red brick building on the left hand side.

ABQ Bus Route : Proceed to the bus stop that is located at 1st St and Central Ave. Make sure to board the 66 bus that is headed toward the CUTC Bay A. Stay on the bus for four stops [roughly 2 mintues], then depart from it at the 10th and Central Ave stop which is located right across the street from us. Use the crosswalk to reach the south side of Central and there you will find us.

Taxi : There are generally numerous taxis located outside of the Alvarado Transit Center waiting to take newly arrived travelers to their destination. Just let them know our address [1012 Central Ave SW] and they should be able to get you here with no problem at all.

From the airport : The best way to reach us from the airport is either by car or taxi. Once again, there are generally taxis waiting outside of the airport, ready to take newly arrived travelers to their destination. Phone numbers for taxi services can be found online by simply searching "Albuquerque taxi service". These methods are especially best if you are arriving late into the evening. If you wish to take a bus, you will need to board the 55 towards Yale and Central. After being on the bus from 12 stops [roughly 12 minutes], you will depart at Yale and Central Ave, and wait for the 66 headed towards the CUTC Bay A. After boarding that bus, you will stay on it for 9 stops [roughly 14 minutes], depart at 10th and Central Ave, use the crosswalk to reach the south side of Central, and then find us located right next to a large, red brick building.

If you happen to get lost or are needing some extra help with directions, please contact us at the front office.
