Adventurous white water rafting on the picturesque Kelani river – This is a challenging recreational activity. The best time to water rafting is May- December. During heavy rains it is unsafe and not advisable for white water rafting.
There are many smaller temples along the way including the Japanese Peace Temple and you will have to climb around 5500 rock steps to its peak. The typical climb is started in the middle of the night around 1:00 so you can reach the peak for the breathtaking dance of sunrise.
Adam’s Peak, also known as Sri Pada about 7, 500 feet high holy mountain in Sri Lanka which is very popular for Sri Lankans and tourists alike to visit universally famous footprint at the top. The religious significance of Adam’s Peak greatly depends on the belief of religions hence people from any religion trying to visit at least once to Sri Pada. The pilgrim season to Sri Pada starts on the full moon of December and ends on the full moon in April. There are many paths to reach Sri pada, but the Hatton- Nallathanni route is most popular, short and steep, with a largely paved path and lighting. It also has many rest spots with drinking water and snacks along the way to the peak. The best thing is that the Nallathanniya is 2 hours ride apart from Arsulana where you can plan Adam’s peak pilgrimage while you are enjoying the lush greenery at Arsulana.
Bird watching – Colourful various species of birds can be captured in the woods around the hotel. Even the endemic species like Sri Lanka Spurfowl, Green-billed Coucal and Spot-winged Thrush may be easier to see.
Animal photography- In addition to birds it is a great place for spotting rare species of butterflies, amphibians, reptiles as well as mammals like deers.
