unfurtunately we felt the staff and owner was weary of tourism, the rooms are not clean, they doesn't care about breakfast or other "services" like using internet other printing.
For just sleeping ist good, if you are not amibitious, but nothing more.

Unfortunately the place did not meet the website description at all.
Rooms were still being constructed with thin wall partitions, there was no safe keeping place and there were only 2 toilets and 1 shower in the whole place.
I moved to another place nearby at 60% of the price and I had a private shower/toilet. I have not tried the breakfast. Did anybody??

Mr. D's is a good place for backpackers who don't have many needs. For my family it was the wrong place! When we left earlier than booked Mr. D told me that I should phone Hostel Traveler to get the deposit back!! After some "friendly" remarks of me he came up with a solution. No deposit back but pay 1 night instead of the 2 we spent there. Good solution.

I was dissapointed with the BnB and would not recommend it to anyone. We made the boooking in August 2009 for the stay in July 2010, which was confirmed. Three days before arrival, while we were already travelling, I got an eamil to say the room was no longer available, with no reason given. After phoning and complaining, we were given a lower quality room, so small, there was only enough room for the bed. The commmon toilets are inadequate for the number of rooms they offer, and the cleanliness was no where near what we experienced in other hostels in the area. The location is great, however there are better value for money hostels available in Kuching, such as Lodge 121. There are a number of testimonials on the walls outside, but it is tempting to think the Mr D wrote them himself.

We stayed at Mr D's Guesthouse for 4 nights and we really enjoyed it! Great breakfast with fresh bread and pancakes. Rooms are clean as well as toilets and showers. They have a nice balcony and livingroom with a big flatscreen Tv. But the best of all was the friendly mr D himself and his staff.

Very well-run, reasonably priced lodging. Location is very good--right in the center of town but on a quiet street. Mr D himself is a rarity--e is very fun, insightful, yet also very professional person. Very concerned that your stay is all that is expected. It is very rare that you will meet a proprietor who is so attentive to making sure your stay goes well. The place is very clean as well, which is quite a bonus from the other similarly priced places in town (i.e. Borneo Bed and Breakfast--awful place). And as far as local tours to longhouses or bike tours, Mr D is one of the few guys in town who understands value and he'll set you up with a reasonably-priced tour that isn't just concerned with taking your money. Very good value. Will definitely stay again.

We stayed in Mr D's in Kuching for 10 days in April 2009. Having arrrived in Kuching with a booking at another B&B when we saw Mr D's we packed up and left the other accomodation the following morning. Mr D's has the friendliest and most helpful staff. It is on Carpenter street which is an old part of Kuching, full of character and nice and quiet at night!
Mr D's is spotlessly clean. The rooms are not ensuite but it isnt an issue, there was always showers available at any time of the day or night. The upstairs common room is a huge plus, with satellite TV, Cooking facilities on the outside terrace along with clothes washing and drying faciilities , a laptop that is available for rent was my boyfriends dream come through after 4 months wihtout a laptop!
If anyone is going to Kuching, book Mr D's, you will not be dissapointed, it's brilliant!!
